Why We're Asking Women These Questions

Because every other source guesses. Dating advice for men is written by men imagining what women want, then packaged as fact. cwēn asks women directly, so the answers come from the people they’re actually about. Here’s what we ask, and why it’s built the way it is.

We ask about behaviour, not types

We’re not asking what kind of man you want. That question has been asked for decades and it has no useful answer, because what people say they want and how they actually respond rarely line up. Instead we ask how you read behaviour: what a slow reply lands as, what a careful pace signals, how you tell interest from politeness. That’s the part that’s actually answerable, and it’s where dating goes wrong.

Why behaviour is the right target

Misunderstandings don’t happen at the level of “what she wants.” They happen in the small moments: a text read the wrong way, a gesture that landed differently than it was meant. Those are behavioural, specific, and readable. Measuring them is how you close the gap between two people instead of theorising about it.

Why it stays honest

The questions have no right answers, only yours. Nothing is designed to flatter or to trap. Your responses are handled under a clear privacy policy, and you can see how they’re used. Honesty in equals honesty out, which is the only way the record is worth anything.
